8-Game Mix
Also known as: 8-Game, Eight Game Mix
An eight-game rotation featured in high-level tournaments: 2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz, Seven-Card Stud, Stud Hi-Lo, No-Limit Hold'em, and Pot-Limit Omaha. Adds three games to H.O.R.S.E. and introduces mixed betting structures — the no-limit and pot-limit rounds create different dynamics.
Quick Rules
- Eight games rotate: 2-7 Triple Draw → Limit Hold'em → Omaha Hi-Lo → Razz → Stud → Stud Hi-Lo → NL Hold'em → PLO.
- Betting structure varies by game: limit for draw/stud/Omaha Hi-Lo, no-limit for Hold'em, pot-limit for PLO.
- Rotation changes every orbit or at timed intervals.
- 6 of 8 games are limit; NL Hold'em and PLO are big-bet games.
- Each game follows its standard rules.
Strategy Notes
The addition of Triple Draw, No-Limit Hold'em, and PLO rewards specialists in those formats. The transition between limit and big-bet games is mentally demanding. Players who can adjust their aggression level between structures have a significant edge.
Home Game Tips
Only suitable for experienced poker groups where most players are familiar with all eight games. Consider starting with H.O.R.S.E. before introducing 8-Game. The draw game adds a new dimension but also requires cards — limit to 6 players.
