Big O (5-Card PLO)
Also known as: 5-Card Omaha, PLO-5, Five-Card PLO, Big O Omaha
A five-card version of Pot-Limit Omaha. Each player receives five hole cards but must still use exactly two of them with exactly three community cards. The extra hole card creates even more hand combinations and bigger draws than standard PLO.
Quick Rules
- Each player is dealt 5 hole cards face down.
- 5 community cards are dealt in 3 stages: flop (3), turn (1), river (1).
- Players MUST use exactly 2 hole cards and exactly 3 community cards.
- Maximum bet is the size of the pot (pot-limit).
- Standard hand rankings apply.
Strategy Notes
With 10 possible two-card combinations from five hole cards, nut hands are extremely common. Never draw to non-nut hands. Connected, suited starting hands with multiple combinations are strongest. Variance is very high.
Home Game Tips
Maximum 9 players due to card distribution (45 hole cards + 5 community = 50 cards from a 52-card deck with burns). Expect very large pots and frequent nut-vs-nut confrontations. Not recommended for groups new to Omaha.
