Limit Texas Hold'em

communitymedium complexity2-10 players (ideal: 9)

Also known as: Limit Hold'em, LHE, Fixed-Limit Hold'em

The original mainstream format of Hold'em before no-limit took over. Identical to NLHE but with fixed bet sizes — small bet on the first two rounds, big bet (double the small bet) on the turn and river.

Quick Rules

  1. Same dealing structure as No-Limit Hold'em: 2 hole cards, 5 community cards.
  2. Pre-flop and flop bets are fixed at the small bet amount.
  3. Turn and river bets are fixed at the big bet amount (double the small bet).
  4. Each betting round allows a maximum of one bet and three raises.
  5. Standard hand rankings apply.

Strategy Notes

Pot odds are more important than in no-limit since you cannot bet players off hands as easily. Drawing hands gain value. Showdown frequency is much higher.

Home Game Tips

Good for newer players who are uncomfortable with large all-in situations. Keeps pots manageable and reduces variance. Common in mixed game rotations.
